Manchester United reportedly want to sign Mauro Icardi this summer, but Inter Milan have rejected a bid submitted for their striker.

Roma have seen an opening bid for the forward turned down by Inter chiefs, despite offering €30m and Edin Dzeko in a player-plus-cash deal.

Icardi, who scored 17 goals last season, is said to be on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's radar amid doubts over Romelu Lukaku's future at Old Trafford.

Inter are understood to be keen on signing Lukaku, so United may be tempted to make a player-plus-cash offer of their own for Icardi should they step up their interest.

Signing Paul Pogba is a ‘priority’ for Zinedine Zidane, with the Manchester United midfielder likely to move to Spain this summer.

That’s according to leading French journalist Julien Laurens who joined Jim White on talkSPORT to talk about Pogba and his tumultuous season at Old Trafford.

Eleven months ago, the midfielder lifted the World Cup in Russia for France but soon found himself on the end of plenty of negative headlines.

His displays at Old Trafford were inconsistent and his public spats with Jose Mourinho were clearly detrimental.

Rumours of a move began to circulate and it is clear the 26-year-old still has his heart set on playing at the Bernabeu.

“Yeah, he’s very open about it,” Laurens said. “He was with us in March when we were there with the national team and he told us it is the dream of every player to play for Real Madrid.

“And he is in that state of mind right now. I think going back to Juventus is an option and I don’t think he would be against it completely.

Ladd, who has 29 caps for Wales and can also play in defence, began her career with Arsenal and spent two seasons with Birmingham after joining from Bristol Academy.

Manchester United won promotion to WSL in April just a year after their formation.

Neil Warnock has told Manchester United to ditch their recent trend of signing big-name and big-money stars and instead aim to bring the world’s best young players to Old Trafford.

The Cardiff City boss told talkSPORT: “United have got to go the way it looks they might be going, even though that’s expensive, and that is to bring in the best young players.

“They’ve done the other way, they’ve spent £300m or £400m on players who are supposed to be world stars, and yet they haven’t got a team. They haven’t got a team at all.

“If they bring the young lads they’re talking about bringing in, they can mould them and I think fans will accept 100 per cent effort from young lads.

“Ole and the hierarchy have got to realise that is the way forward for Manchester United, because they’re a long way behind.”

Bayern Munich have announced that James Rodriguez will leave the club this summer following his two-year loan from Real Madrid.

Bayern said in a statement that the Colombia international had asked them not to trigger their contractual option to sign him on a permanent deal and they had agreed to his wish.

“My big thanks goes to the entire club and the fans, who have always given us great support,” Rodriguez said. “I had two unforgettable years in Munich and I have always felt very happy here.”

Rodriguez is expected to move to Italy now with Juventus and Napoli keen but Man United have been big fans of the 27-year-old in the past.

Christian Eriksen has confirmed he wants to leave Tottenham amid reports that United and Real Madrid are keen.

The Danish playmaker, who is out contract in 2020, told Ekstra Bladet: “I feel that I am a place in my career where I might want to try something new.

“I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened at Tottenham – I will not be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“I hope there will be a resolution during the summer. That’s the plan.

“In football you do not know when a resolution will happen. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants the best to it to happen as soon as possible, but in football takes things time.

“It depends on Daniel Levy. And another club has to come (in with a transfer). Or I’ll have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can’t set a date yourself.

“There are not many points that Tottenham cannot meet. If I have to go, then hopefully it will be a step up.”

Marcus Rashford is no doubt about the test that awaits him in Portugal on Thursday when England play the Netherlands.

Rashford, though, played against the Dutch in the 1-0 friendly win in Amsterdam last March and will be well aware of how much the side have improved since then, believing the defence is particularly strong considering Matthijs de Ligt and Virgil van Dijk are at its heart.

“De Ligt and Virgil are probably the best centre backs in the world right now,” he said. “We know how they defend. They like to be up [close] and behind you.
