Aaron Ramsey has been given the devastating news that his Arsenal career has come to a premature end due to a hamstring injury, Unai Emery has confirmed.
The Gunners midfielder will be sidelined for two months after suffering a minor tear in the Europa League quarter-final second leg win over Napoli.
Should Arsenal progress past Valencia in the semi-final, Ramsey, 28, will be absent for the final on May 29, as well as the Gunners’ last two Premier League fixtures of the season against Brighton and Burnley.
After his injury was reassessed by club specialists Ramsey was told it does not require surgery, but the absence does mean his 11-year spell with Arsenal is over.
The news is a huge blow to both Ramsey and Arsenal supporters who would have hoped to bid farewell to one of Unai Emery’s more consistent performers.
