Manchester City wrapped up their second consecutive title on the weekend and it doesn’t look they’ll be stopped for years to come yet.
They have, arguably, the best manager on the planet and, although they are being investigated for breaching Financial Fairplay Rules, they have all the resources available to stay at the top of the English game.
Even since the title was secured on Sunday, City have been linked with a host of top performing stars from across Europe, and if they land just two of them their already superior squad to the rest of the league will only grow better and better.
Liverpool were beaten by just one point this campaign, but Jurgen Klopp will surely have to pull off a miracle if they spend big again this summer.
But who are the targets and how could they line-up if they are bought next season? talkSPORT.com has identified where they could slot in.
LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS
Harry Maguire
According to the Mail, Guardiola is a ‘huge fan’ of Harry Maguire and he could be willing to lure him to the Etihad in the summer.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed another fine season with the Foxes, but is reportedly expected to leave the club this summer – and with Nicolas Otamendi departing the Champions and Vincent Kompany’s future uncertain the door has opened for another centre-back to come in.
It is understood Leicester will demand a huge fee after Man City paid £50million-plus for defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones.
Foxes boss Rodgers is desperate to keep Maguire, who only signed a new five-year deal last September.
Ben Chilwell
There have also been multiple reports throughout the season of interest from City in Leicester and England full-back Ben Chillwell.
The 22-year-old has been one of the Foxes’ most consistent performers, missing just one Premier League game this season.
His form since breaking through at the King Power Stadium has also earned him five England caps and The Telegraph report Chilwell is being eyed by Guardiola, who has been frustrated by first-choice left-back Benjamin Mendy’s injury problems.
The Frenchman has made just 16 Premier League appearances since his £52million move from Monaco in 2017.
Chilwell is contracted to Leciester until 2024, which means it is likely City will have to pay the Midlands club more than Liverpool’s £75million fee for Virgil van Dijk.
Rodri
The Mail also report that Guardiola has pinpointed Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri as the man who can replace Fernandinho, 34, in the middle of the park.
The Brazilian is by no means labouring in his performances but recent injuries of late suggest his age is catching up with him.
Rodri, 22, has impressed with some assured displays for Atletico this season and City sporting director Txiki Begiristain made a personal check with the LaLiga of his availability in the summer.
Luka Jovic
Luka Jovic has caught the eye of a number of top European clubs after his prolific season with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
The forward, 21, has netted 17 goals in 31 matches, and recently impressed against Chelsea in the Europa League with two in two against the Blues.
Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid are frontrunners for his signature, but Man City have also shown interest and have reportedly sent scouts to watch the striker in action.
Frankfurt are willing to cash in on the youngster and could be willing to part ways if a bid in the region of £50m is tabled.
Joao Felix
The transfer window has not even opened yet but Joao Felix has already dominated much of the talk in the rumour mill.
He has been linked with several huge clubs after making waves in the Primeira Liga this season, netting 14 goals and adding seven assists in 23 matches.
Felix has been most strongly linked with a move to Juventus, with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo identifying the youngster for the Juve board to sign.
However, City have also been following his progress closely and have reportedly ‘spoke with the parents’ of the playmaker.
Whichever club does sign Felix will have a diamond for years to come as he has talent in abundance.
