Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he cannot control Benjamin Mendy’s lifestyle.
The left-back was seen in a Manchester night club in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He has not played a Premier League game this year due to a knee injury, which has seen him make just 20 appearances since signing for City in a £52million deal from Monaco in 2017.
Despite returning to training in recent weeks, Mendy failed to make the matchday squad for City’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aymeric Laporte have deputised at left-back in the 24-year-old’s absence this season.
When asked about Mendy’s antics, Guardiola said: â€They are old enough to know what they have to do.
â€I am not his father. I would prefer him to go to sleep earlier but I do not control the players in those situations.
“I am not frustrated, I’m a relaxed guy. It might not look like it but I sleep quite well.â€

Last month, former Manchester City captain Richard Dunne said Mendy needed to cut back on social media.
The France international is very active on Twitter and Instagram.
Dunne, who made 352 appearances for City between 2000 and 2009, said: “[Paul] Pogba was on social media all the time earlier this season and wasn’t playing well.
“Like Mendy, it’s great having a laugh but make sure you’re contributing to the success of the club and not just feeding off of it.
“Make sure you’re doing your job before you’re posting anything.

Mendy could return to City’s matchday squad when they host relegation-threatened Cardiff on Wednesday night.
